Building Bridges

At the end a vehicle drives across the bridge. Or does not: it all depends on how the sections built by the teams meet.

Duration 2 – 3 hours
Participants 20 – 200

Teams receive a brief, talk through what their client wants and get to work: design, build, test, adjust. The goal sounds simple, a solid bridge that meets the neighbouring sections cleanly. Except that every team builds for another team while depending on the others, so agreeing things here is as much a part of the job as building. Along the way you are measured on KPIs: quality, efficiency, customer satisfaction and budget. Those four rarely pull in the same direction.

In the finale every section is brought together into one structure. Then comes the test the whole room watches: a vehicle moves onto the bridge. Does the joint between two sections hold, or does it give way exactly there? It is an unusually honest ending, because the verdict comes from the bridge rather than from a panel.
