“Wie is de Saboteur?” is built on the idea behind the television format De Mol, or The Mole: everyone is drawn into a story in which nobody is entirely trustworthy. Participants are split into groups that compete against each other, while a few players are secretly running a double game and trying to make the tasks fail from the inside. Working together is the only route to success, and at the same time you know that someone is doing everything to prevent it.
So you start watching one another. Why did she ask that particular question? Why did this stage go wrong? Who steered the group that way? Bit by bit you build alliances to gather enough information and stay a step ahead of the traitor. Different ambitions run across one another, but the end goal is single: unmask the saboteur.
